Alongside our tutors and consultants, we also have a number of former headteachers and specialised education consultants on our Advisory Board – many of whom attend our courses and give support directly to students.

Alicia Luba
Consultancy Director

Alicia holds a first-class degree in English Literature from St Hilda’s College Oxford and also an MA in Shakespeare from Kings College, London. She has been consulting with students, schools and parents for Oxbridge Applications since 2013, specialising in the Arts and Humanities subjects. She regularly takes on her own Premier Service students as well as conducting the initial Private Consultations in the London office or around the globe. Alicia travels to meet clients and schools in the United Arab Emirates, Italy, China, Nigeria and most recently, Oman.

Alison Bissell
Head of Oxbridge Applications

Alison read Mathematics and Philosophy at Pembroke College, Oxford. She began working with Oxbridge Applications as a tutor and has maintained this role alongside her other work since 2012. As a consultant with Oxbridge Applications, Alison has conducted hundreds of mock interviews and consultations with students both in the UK and around the globe, travelling to schools in the Middle East and Far East. She has also worked in corporate roles within government, before rejoining us in September 2017.

Theo Boyce

Theo graduated from Queens' College, Cambridge with a 'starred' Double First degree, specialising in Social Anthropology, which is now part of the Human, Social, and Political Sciences course. He then trained on the three-year acting course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2016. Alongside consulting students at Oxbridge Applications, Theo has performed at theatres such as the Old Vic, the Barbican, and the Oxford Playhouse. He enjoys meeting with young people to advise them on university choice and preparation, as well as helping them build their communication skills and confidence. Inspired by his work in consulting, he is currently enrolled on an MSc in Psychology at Birkbeck College in London, with the aim to move in to a PhD in Educational Psychology.

Timothy Adelani
Head of Schools

Timothy graduated from Peterhouse, University of Cambridge in 2017, having read Classics for his undergraduate degree. However, he has been involved in university admissions, with a specialism in Oxford and Cambridge, since 2014. During the past six years, he has overseen the successful applications to Oxbridge of hundreds of students. He has worked with numerous schools not only in the UK, but across different regions in the world. His interest in education stretches beyond university admissions and further education, and he is active within educational policy.

Sofia Radaelli
Programmes Manager

Sofia read Theology and Religion as an academic scholar at Christ Church, Oxford, graduating in July 2017. She has experience of teaching at the primary school level and of coordinating and leading group educational sessions at sixth form level. During her time at university, Sofia was also involved in supporting secondary school pupils in humanities subjects, including advising on personal statements and assessing academic work. After graduating she spent some time doing personal research and traveling to explore her interests in art, architecture, and religion. Sofia joined the Communications team in March 2018, bringing to the role her love of writing and her commitment to education and academia

Ben Turner
Senior Consultant

Ben matriculated at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in 2012 to read Modern and Medieval Languages before transferring over to the Linguistics tripos. Since graduation, Ben has lived in Germany, Russia and China and speaks five languages. In 2016, Ben was awarded a scholarship by the British Council to study Mandarin in Tianjin where he also gained experience in the education field. He then joined Oxbridge Applications in London and has spent the last two years working closely with families and students here in our London offices.

Georgina Hammerton
Tuition and Publications Manager

Georgina read Human, Social and Political Sciences at Homerton College, Cambridge, graduating in 2016. Specialising in Politics, Georgina has a strong interest in political philosophy and also enjoyed running various societies at University and participating in debating, as well as supporting the Union with their Access work and events delivery.  Previous to joining Oxbridge Applications, Georgina spent her time travelling extensively around Europe and tutoring. She uses her various experiences to work to support students and the team at Oxbridge Applications.


Since 1999, Oxbridge Applications has sought the guidance and advice, as well as worked with, former Oxbridge Admissions Tutors, to ensure our students receive the most accurate guidance possible.

Barry Webb

Barry Webb is a former Admissions Tutor and Tutor in English at Oxford University. He is also a former member of the Joint Oxford & Cambridge Admissions Council. He has advised Oxbridge Applications from its inception, and is integral to our understanding of the Oxbridge application process. Barry currently teaches Master’s-level students at Oxford, having previously been a visiting professor in the USA and Japan. Barry’s decade-long tenure with Oxford University means that students get an unparalleled insight into what qualities and attributes the universities seek in applicants.

John Wilson

John Wilson is a lay member of the university admissions panel for medical school undergraduate entry at UCL (University College London) and has also performed this role at Imperial College and Queen Mary University in London. John has been invited to speak on a number of occasions in Hong Kong by the British Council to share his knowledge and experience of the British education system and on making applications to British universities. John is currently Head Of Upper School at Eaton Square School.John was the Principal  at Acorn House College. Prior to Acorn House, John was the Director of Studies at prestigious Sixth Form College in Kensington, London a position he held since 2005. John was educated at state schools and colleges in the North East of England before graduating from Oxford University with honours in biological sciences and followed this with a PGCE from Cambridge.

Jane Bennett-Rees

Jane is a graduate of St Hugh’s, Oxford, and was later a fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where she held the position of Admissions Researcher. Her insight into both Oxford and Cambridge University has given her an excellent grounding from which she advises and prepares students for entrance, visiting both universities regularly and talking to admissions and subject tutors in order to maintain an encompassing knowledge of the application process. Jane currently lectures in Mathematics at King’s College, London and Guys Medical School, focusing her energies on helping first-year students bridge the gap between A-level study and university courses. She is a member of Oxbridge Applications’ advisory board.
