To make it easier to understand what this may look like as Oxbridge sees it, we have compiled some of the key stats from both universities to demonstrate the average grades of a successful Oxbridge applicant.
The Average Successful Oxbridge Candidate Will: Achieve at least 8 A*s in their GCSEs In 2021, the average offer holder for an Oxbridge course achieved 8.4 A*s at GCSE level. Have a think about your GCSE grades and how they compare to this standard.
Will be predicted between 2 and 3 A*s in their A-levels The average number of predicted A*s in A-levels for 2021 offer holders is 2.7, meaning that being predicted either 2 or 3 A*s gives you the best chance of a competitive application.
Do more than meet their offer The average predicted A-level grades are over the grade requirement for the given course, meaning that successful applicants often have to do more than the grade requirement suggests in order to beat out the competition.
Sit an Admissions Test In 2021, almost two thirds of Oxbridge courses required a pre-interview Admissions Test, with many of these being the most popular and oversubscribed courses.
