NSAA Course Structure

As an introduction to the day, you will learn how your test is used in the admissions process and what skills you need to demonstrate in order to impress the examiners and achieve the maximum marks. Our expert consultant focuses on the application of scientific knowledge and principles, effectively drawing and sketching diagrams, along with critical data analysis concerning scientific topics, all integral to the NSAA, in order to help you devise your own strategy for tackling each. The introduction will guide you in the way that you need to start thinking in order to maximise your chances of success in the test, and give a detailed breakdown of the day.

Registration opens at 10.30am and the day finishes at 5.30pm. All of our unique NSAA mock papers and answer packs are included in the price of the course.

You will analyse model NSAA answers, identifying successful ways of approaching questions and evaluating how to gain maximum marks in your essays. You will also revise the skills required in each section of the NSAA to learn how best to tackle the different sections, construct your evidence-based arguments and hypotheses, and maximise your score.

Our consultant will help you draw information from sources including data, summarise points and draw on your existing knowledge, as well as discussing how best to support arguments through the use of convincing evidence.

We will help you develop your own test strategy; a plan as to how you can structure your time in order to gain maximum marks and develop a clear understanding of which areas you should focus on in your preparation leading up to the test.

It’s essential in the NSAA to plan your answer, develop your ability to apply your own knowledge to questions and write clearly and concisely. Timing is key so our NSAA consultant will help you to formulate a plan and focus on the skills needed in each section to succeed.

In the NSAA you’ll have to manage reading and analysis time in conjunction to making use of your prior scientific knowledge, as well as planning and writing to ensure you communicate all your responses effectively under time pressure. In order to do your best on the day, it is essential to have practised extensively.

You will be sent one of our mock NSAA Paper to sit before the day, which will be returned to you marked and with feedback within 10 working days of the Seminar. As part of the day, you’ll also sit a practice paper, to time and in examination conditions. This will be marked and returned within 10 working days of the Seminar.

I asked for my test result after they had been released and I found out I came in the top 20! I’m so happy to have done so well and got my place at Oxford – I couldn’t have done it if I hadn’t been on the seminar day.  Thank you!
